As per to a press release from Shahid Afridi Foundation, Shahid Afridi has been nominated in the top 20 most charitable athletes of 2015.
Following earning his popularity in cricket, he set a new record in welfare works as he founded his Shahid Afridi Foundation (SAF) in the month of March 2014 along with a purpose of enhancing and improving the lives of the poor people.
He has been listed in DoSomething.org’s list with world popular athletes including with Cristiano Ronaldo, John Cena, Serena Williams, Yuna Kim, Neymar Jr, LeBron James, Maria Sharapova, Mo’ne Davis, Richard Sherman and many others.
The foundation began by the cricket star desires to enhance the quality of life of underprivileged people by providing free education and basic healthcare. As well the foundation has been giving out the deserving people with medical support free in Kohat, covering 14 villages.
Cristiano Ronaldo topped the list for his welfare work for different causes, such as donating more than $83,000 to a 10 year old fan in need of brain surgery and providing more than $165,000 to fund a cancer center in Portugal which treated his mother.
